Sean “Diddy” Combs was at it again with his hit MTV series, “Making The Band 4” in 2007. What followed was a dramatic tale and the formation of a 5 member pop sensation. These talented artists were given the chance to chase their dream and take a shot at succeeding in this finicky industry, and folks….I think they may have found their nitch with the self titled album “DAY 26.”
The first song on the album intrigues the ear and summons your attention. “I’m The Reason” is upbeat and racy. The harmonious blends have been mixed with perfection in mind. As far as the content, lets just say their really confident when it comes to the ladies.
“Got Me Going,” their first single off the disc and produced by Mario Winans, is a hit hands down. You may remember this song being performed by the band on BET’s “Rip The Runway.” This mid-tempo piece was written and arranged tastefully and fits their flow and the theme of the album very well.
The next song that really caught my ear, particularly for its lyrics and title, was “Silly Love.” This song is different from all the others; be prepared for a real treat, not to mention the idea behind the song is relatable to anyone who has ever loved.
“Co Star” is a breath of fresh air. This is a slow rhythmic ballad. These boys ain’t playin’ with you ladies out there, they mean business. The title speaks volumes as to the meaning behind the song and the music is gripping and hypnotic.
“Don’t Fight The Feeling” is more than a great song, it really requires us to take a deeper look at these gentlemen and realize their potential is limitless. This track is very airy and laced with smooth synths. This seemingly concludes the album, however, there are two hidden tracks on the album and both of them are upbeat and top off the album wonderfully.
Day 26, the band and the album, is sure to make a heavy raucous in the game this year.
