Blending hip-hop infused mid-tempo tracks and soulful R&B ballads, 18-year-old R&B vocalist Sammie has officially ?grown up? and is back with his self-titled sophomore album.
The album, executive produced by uber-producer Dallas Austin is much more personal than the album he released at the impressionable age of 12 and features production by Brian M. Coxx, Jazze Pha, Adonis and Daron Jones of 112.
?You Should Be My Girl,? the album?s first single, can be considered a delicious appetizer for what the entire album has to offer. The single is absolute fire and has been heating up the airwaves since its release over a month ago.
A good chunk of the CD can be considered ?pure? R&B, while the remaining portion features upbeat, club-worthy tracks with lyrics worth repeating. ?Mission Impossible,? ?Slow? and ?Another Last Chance,? are a few of my favorite cuts. All three songs show off the growth in Sammie?s vocal range and help to position him as a key player in today?s Rhythm and Blues melting pot.
?I Can?t,? a hot track with a head-banging chorus, is all about making up to and doing right by your girl. Ironically, a lot of the songs on the album seem to focus on the idea of apologizing to your girl or taking a relationship to the next level. Listening to the album it becomes very apparent that a lot of what Sammie has been going through over the last six years has included love.
If the popularity of the first single is any indication, Sammie?s latest release will be a breath of fresh air to the R&B scene.
Trust: There?s nothing disappointing about Sammie?s latest project. This is definitely an album worth copping and cranking in your iPod.

Sammie's cd actually surprised me. It wouldn't have been on my list of things to go to get but the song "Come With Me" had me going to the Walmart last week and coping that. I have to give it to him. It's really mature. Good job Sammie.
