Maxwell: "I'm Stoked To Be Back" Eyes Franklin, Swizz Beatz For New Album

After a nearly six year hiatus R&B/neo-soul veteran Maxwell is happy to be back in the game.
Currently on tour with Jazmine Sullivan, Maxwell is piecing together his highly anticipated trilogy, "Black Summers' Night," his first new project since 2001's Platinum-certified album "Now."
"At first I was asking myself 'Did I take off too long?
Did I kill my
career?' " Maxwell, 35, admitted in a recent interview with the NY Post. "But I received a lot of support. When
we announced the tour, tickets began selling and I realized people
hadn't forgotten about me and my music."
After a well received performance of "Simply Beautiful" at this year's BET Awards, Maxwell says he felt the energy.
"Right then I knew it. I felt the energy and was like, 'It's time to go out on the road and meet the people again."
Planning to release the first installment of "Black Summers' Night" early next year, Maxwell has been focused on adding rock and gospel elements to his classic urban-soul foundation.
"It feels so exciting and fresh right now. I'm stoked to be back doing what I love."
While a listing of producers has not been confirmed, Maxwell has been in talks with Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest. According to the NY Post he is also hoping to put in some time with Aretha Franklin, Swizz Beatz and Jazmine Sullivan.
Maxwell's first installment of "Black Summers' Night" is slated for release early 2009.
