Looking back at the Grammy's, that in many eyes launched her comeback, Tina Turner says she was surprised by the reaction from fans and the 'Queen of Soul' Aretha Franklin.
"It was meant to be. I was surprised by the reaction because, to be honest, I wasn't quite ready." says the iconic performer.
There was however one reaction that she says was somewhat surprising.
"Aretha has always been like that. We've always accepted that from her" says Turner referring to the 'Queen's' statement about being dismissed by Beyonce who called Turner a 'Queen' during an introductory tribute.
"She's the queen of soul and I'm the queen of rock n' roll. Her ego must be so big to think she was the only one."
Regardless of who is the real 'Queen,' Turner has something more important to worry about -- her highly anticipated tour.
Kicking off Wednesday, Tina Turner's North American Trek is slated to run through early December with stops in Chicago, Anaheim, Miami and Newark, NJ before heading overseas.
Ready to take the stage Turner says "The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, the Eagles, we are the Mozarts of
these times, we're proving we can last. That's the
statement I am making."
Like I said Aretha isn't the only one holding the title "QUEEN" yes she is legendary and well-respected, but she wasn't the only "QUEEN" in the room.

Beyonce did make a big mistake by referring to another diva as being The Queen when Aretha was present. Aretha has had that title for decades and it was earned with blood, sweat and tears. The truth is she is the real thing--vocally. There are few women who can sing a song with the gut-wrenching emotion and fervor that she can. Her skill are unique and second to none. There are other singers with a lot iof talent--but there is only one Aretha. That said, there are divas who are more all-around entertainers and are more interesting and fun (if you will) during interviews. But Aretha does have pipes--our queen can blow!!. Beyonce made a mistake and her father made a bad situation just a little worse

I don't see why Aretha got upset besides her own ego taking over her mouth. All Beyonce' said was give it up for the Queen in which she is in her own music genre so Beyonce' really didn't say anything wrong.

We are *Old School* for a reason, we know who is who. There is no controversy in our world. There is Love and much Respect. Aretha Franklin has always been referred to as "The Queen of Soul"! Tina Turner has always been referred to as the "Queen of Rock and Roll"! These two blessed artists
have much Love and Respect for each other. Beyonce or SASHA(who knows) is as
uneducated in the musical ancestory as shown. The statement made was a unfortunate blunder that should have been
proof-read by a PROFESSIONAL. not only did she put her foot in her MOUTH(size 11),
she also stepped on Tina Turnes's foot during the end of the dance. "B"-get the Facts straight ! We OLD SCHOOLERS are not having that!

I agree with Dt and Sam on their autobiographical comments. It's what everybody has been saying and questioning in their homes over dinner whenever Aretha makes a telivised apperance...What does she have on, what's up with her weight and why is she looking at Fantasia like that????When was the last time she toured like her peers Tina, Diana, Patti, Gladys, Streisand??? I like Aretha, but she does not appreciate her influence(Mary J., Mariah, Natalie Cole,Celine Dion, etc..)If her management team reads this blog it really could help her!

Aretha needed to be checked decades ago and Tina Turner had the guts to say what all the other divas were thinking anyway: while they were taking the high road and letting Aretha, be Aretha! Diana Ross had more mainstream appeal than any other African American Artist, until Whitney came along. There are more divas who have less issues (Aretha's weight, no flying, tax evasion, etc..)and who can entertain the music buying public, better in concert and excite us in interviews.

Has any other music lover noticed during several televised tributes to Aretha over the years, that she has this smerky, icy, Queen of Narnia look on her face when the younger divas are singing her songs?? I just could've imagined the negative energy she would've brought if she had of attened Oprah's Legends Ball years ago! (Diana Ross, Gladys Knight and Aretha, plus Tina Turner in the same living room...Please!! Thank goodness, Aretha couldn't attend)Aretha needs to concentrate significantly on her weight issues, seek counseling to help her with her phobia of flying, record a NEW duet, Santana-like CD and get Jennifer Hudson to portray her in a feature film. Aretha does have an excellent catalog of music and was ranked #1 on VH1's Top women in Rock, but her attitude does not represent her church like upbringing by publically dissing younger divas Beyonce, Mary J.Blidge and semi-peers like Natalie Cole as well as rivals Tina Turner and Gladys Knight!

Sometimes it takes a Queen to put another Queen in her place. I LOVE both women but Aretha was out of line. Tina responded with class. A real lady.
