Usher ‘Livid’ With His Management, Singer Contemplates Bringing Mom Back?

Last May Usher surprised us all when he gave his mom/manager Jonetta Patton the “pink slip,” but according to Rush & Molloy the “Love In This Club” singer may be in talks to bring his mom back!
After sales of his new album, “Here I Stand” fell over 650,000 copies short of it’s predecessor “Confessions,” the crooner has been left disappointed with the outcome and is quietly talking with Patton about becoming his manger again.
Last year the singer replaced Patton with Benny Medina, the man who has spearheaded the careers of Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Tyra Banks among others. But now that Usher's new album has been slow off the mark, he's blaming Medina, according to sources.
The recent success of Lil Wayne’s “The Carter III” has not helped the situation either, the Hip Hop artist’s record sold over 1 million copies in it’s first week out, pushing the “climate of the record industry” excuse out of the window – Medina reportedly reassured Usher that his latest sales were nothing to be ashamed of, considering the current state of the business.
Usher’s headlining of the BET Awards drew lower numbers in comparison to Beyonce’s opening of the show last year which picked up 6.3 million viewers as compared with this years 5.8 million viewers.
According to Rush & Malloy, "Usher was livid!," claims an insider. "He threatened to fire everyone." "People have been telling Usher to listen to his mother," says a source. "Nobody knows how to sell him better than she does. Usher can be stubborn. But he may be ready."
But is mom ready and willing?
Patton has moved on, launching her own label over the spring as previously reported on Singersroom and continues to front her management firm. Since the split Patton has been focusing on Usher’s brother J. Lack who produced the 2007 hit “Get It Shawty” (Lloyd), R&B group Kwiet Storm and R&B singer Dante who are all signed to her label Jpat Records.
However, sources say if Usher cries for mom, she’ll be there for him.......... What do you think, should Usher’s mom come to the rescue?

beyonce has been doing it for years.she gets up there..sings her heart out, freak a few folks & goes home 2 her hubby and b happy.
cause everything she did on stage was an act.she was having fun in her roles.
cater to u was an good example for both of u.when the girls performed they performed..while being tasteful.
when u & babyface performed...u both were scared sh**less.by ur wives & by her father.he is full of it.
we could see u wanted 2 freak & touch them.u should have as they did.u guys sang good stuff but u did not perform good stuff.

You can't have every album be good in your career. He'll get 'em next time around. I'm a Usher fan, I really don't think him getting married has a lot to do with it. The songs just weren't that great period. He may have been to focused on trying to out do Confessions.

Ok I made a boo boo...when I said "through" I meant "threw"!!! But I was sincere about what I said. And to add to the maddness I agree with previous comments "it's not the industry" it's the artist!!! Hell yall know what sounds good and what will sell...

Point blank is that the album was not a success. I have every album Usher came with. But I knew that with his mother leaving, him getting married, and then having a lil one, he rushed this album. He's influences weren't the same and it through his talented skills off...the dancing, the music, everything. Usher will basically be lying to himself if he put out the music he USED to make because he's not living that lifestyle anymore and it's going to be like "Here I Stand". I was very disappointed in the album and wanted to take the s*** back!! But I still love him always he's my favorite male artist but as a fan I didn't appreciate that last album and if he says that came from his heart I won't believe it...sorry

Usher you need to stop flashing your wedding ring in front cover magazines and start thinking of those young females who adored you and you broke their hearts when you got married to that old woman. But I also respect your wishes. The thing is this, you need to keep your marriage life away from the media couso! That whats eating your career away like cancer. Also bring back the team you had when you did the confessions Album. That love in the club was saved by Jeezy! That song is soft without him, though the remix sounds better.........

U got married. People just don't view u the same. Even your performance. It's like your scared to look sexually at your dancers while performing. You can still be faithful to your wife and put on a great performance. I'm a 32yr old woman and i'm thinking of chris brown. That's sad. What's even sadder is I have his album and not yours. Bring Sexy back. Still love ya!

I respect Usher's decisions. It's his life but the song called "Moving Mountains" was not exactly what I was looking for as a second single. I have been jamming Usher since 1994 when he was with Devante Swing and JD. We need new and fresh music. Something different and the second single was just not it. Stick with the people who helped you with Confessions. This album should have been Confessions Part 2. Producers like JD, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and many others could have contributed. Usher you are what every R&B artist wants to be. Your right. You should have sold 1 million records in the first week or 2 weeks. Let's hear a the 3rd single maybe records sales will change. Good Luck. God Bless.

Yeah people keep saying the music industry is bad, please! its the artists thats bad, why should we buy something that they excuse my language but bulls*****, it seems like they just record a bunch of crappy songs and like 2 hits to make singles i mean come on lil wayne proved it, when they start bringing back the quality we start giving them the money. Why is downloading so popular now because we can go to a crappy album and pick out the couple songs that are actually good. Not saying all artist but Usher was suppose to be one of the good ones. And it seems all we have now is the fast paced club songs i mean whens the last time we heard a strong slow ballad. Usher wants to be mad he needs to be made at himself.

Your album is doing sh** cuz u dropped a sh** alubm. Straight up! After 8701 blew up and "U Got It Bad" and "U Don't Have To Call" stayed on the charts forever I was like damn! How is he gonna top this it? BOOM! Confessions drops and I was like damn, this boy is bad!! Here we are with "Here I Stand" I hate it!!!! Only 4-5 good songs on here. The rest is not new or fresh! Trying too hard on the grown and sexy tip. Read all that sh** in the liner notes about "...this album is a movie..blah blah blah" Whatever! "Moving Mountains" dope song but, vid is garbage. Singles that could save him would be "Love You Gently", "Trading Places" could be a dope live performance vid, "His Mistakes", "Appetite" and "Before I Met You".

Usher it is YOUR fault.

Well JD said he wasn't involved in the selection of the songs. So maybe that's it. I think the same was true for Mariah. Maybe he charged so much money they thought they could go another route. Oh well... don't get cocky.

Never bite the hands that feeds you, Usher. Nobody is feeling Usher right now. Just accept it and move on.

thats not the problem usher and you know it ...the facts that the producers that are so connected and those songs were not strong and you and your people thought you would carry the project. WRONG!!!!!!!!! next time get the strong songs even if the song writers arent connected to your publishers friend.....and songs that are highlighting you not songs from other artist at all. you will learn people will buy what they like times are too tight to buy mess
