Everyone seems to have the wedding itch’ this week or is it just wedding season?
R&B singer/actress Jill Scott revealed her engagement to “Lil Jon” over the weekend and American Idol alum Ruben Studdard has reportedly picked up a marriage license in Alabama.
According to a recent interview with Parlour Magazine, Scott, whose latest album “The Real Thing Words & Sounds Vol. 3" has been certified gold announced her engagement to drummer Jon Roberts who she affectionately calls “Lil Jon” at her Carnegie Hall show over the weekend.
“ I feel wonderful, and I think that’s the key. This is the best life I’ve ever had. I can’t get over it,” says Scott who went through a painful and somewhat public divorce as reflected on her latest effort.
According to fans in attendance, the singer announced her engagement after the second or third encore when her husband-to-be Jon who is also in the singer’s band presented her with a bouquet of flowers and a kiss. She then told the audience the news and was met with cheers and applause before going into another encore performance.
In related news, Ruben Studdard may be planning a summer wedding. The former American Idol Winner has picked up a wedding license.
According to PEOPLE, the 29 year old singer who was dropped from his recording contract at J Records late last year arrived at Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham, Alabama with fiancee Surata Zuri McCants, 30, Monday and walked away with a marriage license according to an eyewitness who says “The looked really happy.”
There is no word as to when the couple will exchange vows however, a marriage license is valid for 30 days in Alabama. Studdard’s last album “The Return” has sold just over 237,000 copies since it’s release in 2006.
