R&B singer Ashanti is busy promoting her new album “The Declaration,” but today the singer and her label Universal Music/Motown are the subject of protest.
A coalition led by the civil rights organization Project Islamic Hope and the Industry Ears organization are set to protest the singer’s video and parody website for “The Way That I Love You” in Los Angeles calling the video a “glorification of violence as a tool to settle disputes.”
"Ashanti should be ashamed of herself. Her participation in the glorification of violence in her music video sends a horrible message to thousands of impressionable youths worldwide who are accessing the unedited video that is being promoted by Universal Music/Motown on their website," stated Najee Ali Founder of Project Islamic Hope
According to Industry Ears co-founder Paul Hope, "Universal Music and Motown continue to promote black violence and stereotypes without corporate responsibility. Ashanti's senseless promotion is evidence that commercial hip hop is dying fast. Hopefully Doug Morris at Universal will explain why his company is insensitive to urban violence."

Get real!! Leave Ashanti alone. First of all youth need to get there mentoring from the home. She has depicted anything in her video that they don't see or haven't seen on the six oclock news. Give the youth more credit than that. Are you basically saying that the youth are too dumb and ignorant to know the difference between right and wrong!! Thats something God gives everyone rather they use it or not. LEAVE ASHANTI ALONE . You just do you and let her do her.

Are you kidding me!? Please, someone tell me they are. Why are they targeting Ashanti? Because her video is violent? What about the hundreds of rap artists out there who has gun shots as music beats? Who has females shaking their @ss and wearing close to nothing like its ok? Why aren't they targeting them? Ashanti shouldn't be ashamed of herself, project Islamic Hope should. They have nothing better to do.

It's true that they video is kinda giving out the message that violence is okay but it's coming form the relationship point of view, I understand where she is coming from though. you sometimes wonder why things change and when you find out its a big shock and you just react and not think!!!!!!
