Bosses at Island Def Jam have reportedly pulled the plug on promoting Janet Jackson’s latest album ‘Discipline’ and there are no more single releases planned.
Jackson, who once broke chart records with seven U.S. top five hits from one album - Rhythm Nation 1812, has scored only one hit from her new release, “Feedback,” branding this album, along with the last, a flop.
In a disappointing email to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, which she was asked if there would be another single, Jackson says, “That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with “Feedback “ and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the Feedback single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.”
At the height of her popularity, Jackson scored 19 hit singles from just three albums - Control, Rhythm Nation: 1812 and Janet. And she still holds the record for scoring number ones in America from the same album, over three successive years.

JANET HAS BEEN MY #1 SINCE 1982, AND THE SINGLE "YOUNG LOVE". WHILE, "DISCIPLINE" IS A GREAT ALBUM, I LOVE IT TO THE UTMOST, I FEEL THAT THE LABEL AND JANET ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS FAILURE. JANET HAD CONTROL OF THE VIDEOS CREATED FOR THE ALBUM AND I FEEL THE "FEEDBACK" VIDEO, WHILE ALRIGHT, SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPECTACULAR. AND WHAT WAS SHE THINKING WITH THAT AWFUL "ROCKWITCHU" VIDEO. I think its very sad when a Record Lable and an Artist cant see eye to eye. Will not be a good relationship, but she is an Icon, and I think Lables have to let her do her own thing when it comes to making music. I love her, and I think she is great no matter what happens. I love ALL her albums, and I hope much success for her and any Lable she is with.

She should of followed up Feedback with a Big Ballad - Janet Style -where we can actually understand the words she's saying in the song -not so airy and whispery.

It just doesn't matter. It is not the record company, it is not JD; Janet and her brother are both black balled. It just goes to show how cut throat the industry really is. Both she and Michael are icons and have inspired so many up and coming artist in the industry today, but neither will never regain their status as A-list celebrities. That is just the way it is.

This is such bulls***. It is evident she has been "BLACK BALLED" I just simply don't get it. What I'm learning about this industry is "If you are a "Jackson" you're cursed and people are unforgiving. But if you are a pedophile (R. Kelly) you're adored and your record sales go through the roof? I don't get that part. Janet (my lady) if you're reading this, know that I feel your heartbreak and feel you've been done an injust. It has nothing to do with JD and don't let media tell you otherwise. As far as I'm concerned JD does and has had your back and will continue doingso. It doesn't matter if you work with JD, Jimmy Lewis, or Ne-Yo. Your label/labels are wack. I think that Janet has been blackballed in the industry. She gets almost no radio airplay eversince that superbowl thing. I think that it ashame. Janet has been banned. She needs to disappear for awhile and then make a real comeback without JD.

i would like to suggest that Ms. Jackson needs to reinvent herself(like Madonna), whether she records a standards cd, a cd featuring her trademark dance cd( no more than 3-4 songs mixed with some ballads. Mix it up!

i feel so bad i hoped that her record would be hot but people at the label picked all the songs that were put on the album now they are upset and wont work it and janets music has been going down every since she got with JD somehow she just doesnt give off the same sexy thang with him on her side ....she should call jim and terry right away and do whatever...

Janet is not as popular as she once was, even by the people who grew up on her music. I've honestly heard people say what is she doing with some of the singles... I mean yea they might have been able to release one more single from the album but they need to base that stuff off the record sales and see if the time and effort would even give it enough push... sorry I agree with the label...

WHAT!!! That's insane, she only brought out 2 singles from this album. I really wanted the songs "Never Letchu Go" & "Greatest X" to have a music video & released as singles. I Love those two songs.
