50 Cent has hit back at R&B singer ALICIA KEYS for criticizing gangsta rap, insisting her comments were "not really bright." Keys boasted controversy by voicing her opinions on the hip-hop subgenre, telling Blender Magazine, "Gangsta rap was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other."
Keys' comments have reportedly enraged rapper 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, whose music is said to fall into the gangsta rap category.
Keys issued a statement later saying that her comments were "misrepresented" and that she isn't a "conspiracy theorist" or "a racist."
"We stand by our story," Blender spokeswoman Kate Cafaro told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
Regardless of Keys' explanation, 50 Cent wasn't too thrilled with the comment.
He tells The Showbuzz, "I'm prejudice(d). I don't like people who don't like me. If you don't like the content that I write because of my experiences; I am being who I am when I am writing it. I fall into that 'label' as far as you considering artists creating 'Gangsta music,' we fall into that."
50 went on to say, "If she don't like that, (then) I don't like that classical music s--- she be doing. At some point she's playing some s--- that don't relate to me. … We listen to it and try to figure out why people actually enjoy it. I am trying to enjoy it. That statement changes my perception of Alicia Keys totally. But the magazine is standing behind it, which means they probably have a tape of her in conversation saying it. It's just not really a bright comment anyway."
Keys has since retracted the statement, insisting her words were taken out of context.
Music is supposed to soothe, uplift, relax....why do we feed into this stuff....why people why??....More listening, less gwafaking (look it up) Maybe 50 figured he was an expert since making the vitamin water commercial where he's directing the orchestra...lol, or maybe Alicia's people and 50's people set this up so folks would beleive the hype. DON'T BELEIVE THE HYPE!

Alicia is black and 50 is black so whtever they say concerns black people and what concerns black people concerns the community in general. I do think that people have the right to sing whatever they have to sing and no music should be criticised. Alicia is most stupid to know that music dosen't lure people to mess up and kill eachother but the poor upbringing, division and negligence in a society like America does!

I really think the magazine mis-represented what Alicia Keys was trying to convey to them. Her interpitation was that the thug type of rap is ruining young brilliant minds. It's about what they are saying in these gansta type rap songs. They (young people and some older ones) obsorb (listen to) this type of music over and over in their minds and of course it effects their minds and warps them. Some act out what they obsorb. Just like with the violent movies. You have some people imitating what they see in these violent movies. So be it, the gansta rap music. They act out what they hear in these thug rap songs. This is what Alicia Keys was trying to convey in that interview she did with that particular magazine.

I love Keys music and I like some of 50 tracks. What he said tho was immature "You don't like my music, I don't like your's" well 50 wouldn't listen to that type of sh*t in tha first place in my opinion. In life everyone is not going to like what you like or what you do in general. That doesn't mean you should be the same way towards that person. He too sensitive, I don't care if what Keys said was what she really meant or the mag took it out of context. An opinion is an opinion.

I'm not Alicia Keys, just as 50 cent ain't a gangsta. This n**** manged to get his b**** ass shot 9 times by pissin' off the right people, and all of a sudden he's a gangsta. His music doesn't fall under the "gangta rap" because he isn't a "live" musician like 2-pac. He alwys has something to say about something. Obviously Blender misinterpreted what she said, and she spoke up on it.
