Day26 Bumps Danity Kane to Claim The Number One Album In The Country

Day26’s self-titled debut has upended their suite mates Danity Kane from the top to claim the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. This marks the second week in a row that a Making The Band act has topped the chart, as Danity Kane debuted at #1 last week.
The new Bad Boy album shifted 190,000 copies this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, a marked decline from Danity Kane's 236,000-copy start last week. Day26 is the first new male group to open at No. 1 since 2001, when D12 bowed on top with "Devil's Night." It's also the highest bow for a debut album by a group since Danity Kane's debut release.

Executive Produced by Bad Boy CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs and Bad Boy Entertainment president Harve Pierre, "DAY26" was recorded in just three short weeks. The five gifted performers were chosen by Diddy and MTV viewers around the world on the record-shattering "Making The Band 4" season finale last August 26th -- the source of the quintet's moniker.
"Got Me Going" -- the first single from "DAY26" -- looks set to continue Bad Boy's winning streak. The Mario Winans-produced track has bulleted its way into the Top 25 at Urban radio outlets nationwide, while also drawing serious airplay at Rhythmic, Top 40, and Urban AC.

I knew they would rise to the occassion... I got both groups album. I dig the whole "Makin' the Band" trend!!! I jus saw Danity Kane at Passions Nightclub in Hollywood, Florida. They did good. Now Day26 gotta come and give a standin' ovatiated performance.

I guess this really shows how lacking the music business is when this group is #1 or even Danity Kane. It all sounds the same to me.

I knew yall would do it I'm so happy. On the ballads I get goose bumps on the up tempo songs I'm dancing in my chair at work. I love all of yall. Those vocals are out of this world for real. I'm mad my cd skips in my car these new cars don't play the real cd's that well. I'm gonna get fired listening to yall at work but it's worth it (lol) Diddy knows what he's doing Stray strong and Keep the faith cause we're behind yall no matter what.
