Family Battles Over R&B Singer Gerald Levert’s Estate

A battle over the estate of late R&B singer Gerald Levert has erupted between the star's business manager and two women whose children he fathered.
Levert, who died in November, left behind assets of at least $2 million, including two homes, two Mercedes-Benz autos, jewelry, clothing, furniture, securities and bank accounts.
The singer's publishing copyrights and music royalties have yet to be appraised, and probably will make up a sizable part of Levert's estate, court records said.
Proceedings to distribute the estate began in March (07), under the guidance of his manager and cousin Anthony Gibson.
However, the mothers of two of Levert's children - son LeMicah Levert, 17, and daughter Camryn Levert, 8 - have challenged Gibson's status as executor, in part because of his role in writing the will. The women say they want to ensure the children receive what they might have coming as the singer's next of kin.
A third child, Carlysia Levert, 17, also is set to inherit from the estate.
Gibson planned to distribute the estate at Cuyahoga County Probate Court, Ohio, where the singer lived and spent most of his free time, but the mothers' lawyers insist proceedings should take place in Geauga County in the state, where Levert once kept a home.
Steven Cox, acting on behalf of the two women, says, "We are met with a lot of resistance."
Levert, 40, died in November 2006 of an accidental prescription drug overdose.

I don't blame the moher's of these children at all, they are just doing what is right. If Gerald LeVert was here he would be taking care of his children & if we could ask him what he wants he would want to take care of his children. Gerald LeVert was a man & I believe he was a good father & every great father wants what is best for their children. When a person dies the next of kin is their children so the are the main focus here. They need their education paid for and not to mention they still have to live with one person(the Mother) instead of two. I don't think it's about money with the mothers but everybody that commented & are reading this know in their hearts they want the best for their children & so do the mother's of Gearald LeVert's children & I believe he wants what is best for his children as well!!
i really love lvert and his songs ,and i want to tell his family that every thing will be okey just keep GOD FIRST AND we will prey for his family and childern.

When we bring children into this world, things can become a real mess. I can imagine that there are some really bad vives taking place between families. Who should rightfully get what? Hopefully it will work out for the best!
i agree with the lady name sheila i think that greald levert mother and father should give the grand kids thing that their father would want them to get MYMOTHER DIE I WAS THE ONLY CHILD SHE had AND HER FAMILY TOOK EVERY THING I HAD . I think these two mothers need to step aside Gerald did not married any of these women . I think Gerald mom, and dad should get everything then give the children something. These women wanted children for Gerald to get paid! Gerald iI love you rest in Peace!
My prayers that you all get right. God didn't take Gerald. For you all to fight over money. But to bring the family closer. I prayer that Levert family get it right with God.
you know gerald loved all his childern ,and i know for a fact that their grandfather will see that the kids will be taken care of .like father like son .god blesws this family to cling together at this time to know father god you are still mighty and able to to do your will.love one another and remember gerald wouldnt want this played out like this. again god bless your family...........
