50 Cent Hip Hop phenomenon 50 Cent filed a $1 million Manhattan lawsuit yesterday against an Internet advertiser who created a “Shoot the Rapper” pop-up ad featuring his image.

The banner ad started this spring on various websites as an ad filler. In it, a gap-toothed cartoon rapper bearing an extremely close resemblance to 50 Cent paces back and fourth across the top of the page as the viewer is invited to “shoot” him, using the mouse to aim.

“It was very disturbing to him, and certainly wasn’t funny,” said the rappers lawyer, Peter Raymond.

A lawyer for online ad company Traffix Inc. had no comment.

50 cent is famous for getting shot nine times and surviving.
