R&B super group Jagged Edge sets Sept. 25 for “Baby Making Project,” the highly anticipated album produced by Jermaine Dipri via their new label So So Def/Island (Def Jam).
"The album is bedroom music; It's freakier, risque, but not raunchy or expletive," group member Brandon Casey tells Billboard.com. "There were so many records like that growing up with Keith Sweat and R. Kelly. Today, everything is fast, so we wanted to reintroduce ourselves and still represent."
Dupri produced the first single, "Put a Little Umph in It," featuring Ashanti. "The song is seductive and Ashanti is sexy to death, so it made perfect sense," explains group member Richard Wingo. "Put a Little Umph in It” is also featured on Singersroom with high feedback from listeners.
In contention for the second single are "Me That's Who" and "Whole Town Laughing," both produced by the group. Other tracks include "Get This," ("We ain't known for the suggestive, freaky ballads, but this one is one of the few of that nature," says Brandon), and "The Way To Say I Love You."
Jagged Edge recorded so much material for “Project” that they have saved eight of the tracks for another album, a release date for which has not been announced. In the meantime, JE will launch a 30-city tour of House of Blues venues to promote “Project” this fall.
In addition, Jagged Edge recently launched its own label, 581 Records, under So So Def/Island Urban, to which they signed the girl group Bad Girl and Atlanta rapper Jimmy Two Time.

I can't wait til this album drops! I love the single "Put a lil humph in it!" It's off the chain! Go JE! Yall back wit a BANG!
Oh yeah in addition to my first comment, Ashanti? Ewww...*yawn*. They could have and should have gotten a female singer who can actually sing and put that flavor and soul into it. But I will let them pass on that one........for now LOL. JE4Ever.
JE for life. The last group standing. I love how they are not afraid or apprehensive about singing love songs and making songs with substance. As long as they don't get raunchy or provocative and lose the essence of who they are, they will be around for a very long time. Keep it jagged.
Is the new album going to released in the UK on the 25 Sept or in the US?
I can't wait either i love his songs. They sound great.
BEST GROUP EVER as far as I'm concerned.I love them to death. I could go on and on about this group. Keep on doing what you do best. God bless. Southern Girl
