Soul veteran Lalah Hathaway will release her sixth solo studio album, ‘Where It All Begins,’ on October 18, 2011 via Stax Records. The set is led by the synth-driven first single “If You Want To,” penned by Rahsaan Patterson, Jonathan Richmond and Terrence Lilly.

On ‘Where It All Begins,’ Hathaway taps into newfound energy to create her masterpiece and she is very eager to let the world listen.

“Everybody is an artist in some way,” says Hathaway. “I wanted to explore what that really means. For me it meant walking into being the artist I’ve always wanted to be. It was an opportunity for me to embrace my independence as an artist through my music and connection to my fans.”

Along with Patterson, Richmond and Lilly, Hathaway also worked with several other big name songwriters and producers, including Dre & Vidal, James Fauntleroy, Lee Hutson, Jr., Mike City, Lil Eddie and more.

Hathaway’s last release was 2008’s Self Portrait, which reached the top ten on the Top R&B Albums chart and included the Grammy nominated (Best Female R&B Vocal) song “That Was Then.”

Like the previous albums, ‘Where It All Begins’ sees Lalah listening to her father Donny Hathaway’s landmark albums for inspiration.

“I really listened to my dad’s own songs,” Hathaway says fondly. “I just grew up with the approach of opening yourself up to create something beautiful, that’s a love letter to what came before.”

On Where It All Begins, Lalah Hathaway unquestionably succeeds at opening herself up in new and profound ways, striving for artistic higher ground and to ‘create something beautiful.’ “I feel like I’m at the top of my game, like I’m at the beginning again,” she says, excitedly. “There aren’t many artists, particularly female singers, who after 20 years, are kind of still on the come up. I feel like I’m on the come up.”

Listen to Lalah Hathaway – If You Want To

Lalah Hathaway, the celebrated daughter of soul legend Donny Hathaway, is back with a brand new album and single. Releasing on October 18th, this highly anticipated project marks her first studio album since 2016’s Lalah Hathaway Live. Fans are already buzzing with excitement over the news — especially after she dropped her latest single “I Can’t Wait”.

Hathaway has always been known as an innovative artist whose music blends genres together in unique ways. Her sound seamlessly combines funk-soul vibes with elements of jazz and gospel, creating something that feels both nostalgic and fresh all at once. She also takes pride in exploring social issues through her lyrics; crafting songs that capture the heartache and complexities of life while never failing to make you groove.

This upcoming release is sure to be no exception. We can only imagine what kind of magic it’ll hold for us when it drops later this year. Keep your eyes peeled for more info about the project from one of R&B’s most beloved voices!

Hathaway recently released a new single from the upcoming project titled “Something,” which was co-produced by herself and nine-time Grammy Winner Gregory Curtis. The track showcases her signature vocal stylings along with powerful lyrics about resilience and strength during difficult times. Fans have already taken to social media to express their excitement for the record.

The anticipation for this album is high among both critics and fans alike as it marks Hathaway’s first full length project in four years following 2016’s Lalah Hathaway Live album. With such an impressive back catalog of work, expectations are sure to be exceeded when her latest offering finally drops later this year.

Details Of The Album Release

The upcoming album is set to be one of Hathaway’s most ambitious projects yet, showcasing her signature style while introducing some new sounds and ideas. The singer has been working on the record for several years, carefully crafting each song into a cohesive body of work that will undoubtedly please longtime fans as well as attract new listeners.

Details about the project have been scarce until now, but with the release of ‘Something’ we’ve gotten a glimpse at what to expect from the full-length LP.
