It seems Randy and Jermaine Jackson don’t approve of a tribute concert put together by their mother for their late brother, Michael Jackson.
“We want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family,” Randy and Jermaine stated in a joint statement obtained by CNN. “While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death.”
“In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live,” they added.
Mother Katherine Jackson announced the “Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert” with Marlon, Tito, Jackie and La Toya at a press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday.
“If my son was here today, he would feel the same way, and so I’d like to say thank you very much for helping to keep my son’s legacy alive,” she said.
The tribute show take place in Cardiff, Wales at the Millennium Stadium, which holds about 75,000 people on Oct. 8th, which is the 40th anniversary of Michael releasing his first solo single, “Got To Be There.” In addition, It will be broadcast live via satellite on pay-per-view television and into movie theaters around the world, some of which will screen it in 3D, said promoter Global Live Events.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit some of Michael’s favorite charities including, AIDS Project Los Angeles and The Prince’s Trust.
