Even though he respects Usher, "Down" singer Jay Sean appears to have taken offense to the "OMG" singer's comment that he and fellow UK star Taio Cruz have a lot of work to do to get to his level.
Admitting that he's had just one album in the United States after a successful chart-topping run in Europe, Jay Sean took Usher to task in a recent interview, stating "Outside of America, maybe Usher doesn't know that I've been touring and recording for seven years."
"This [next album] is my fourth studio album. I've had a couple of multiplatinum albums on my own record label. But he wouldn't know that if he didn't do his research or nobody told him."
According to MTV, Usher told UK's Wrap Up Urban Blog, "they (Sean & Taio Cruz) have a lot to prove."
Nonetheless, Jay Sean has begun work on a follow up to his 2009 album, "All or Nothing" and is ready to show Usher and others that he has staying power...
"I've got so much more to show them, so much more to give them," he says.

this article is dumb because in the real interview jay sean never took what usher said seriously and this article is making it sound that it did.... go look at the interview for yourself on mtv2.... dumb ass critics all this is to heat up bs thats not even true....
@Huh: Sean sold 10 million+ worldwide: -4 top-10 and 8 top-20 hits in UK -"Ride It" topped Eastern Europe -"Me Against Myself" sold 2 million+ in Asia -"Maybe" was top-10 in Japan -"Down" sold 6 million worldwide -"Do You Remember" sold million+ in US
don't hate cuz of his skin colour
Why do people have to react over a silly thing like this it's not like somebody did something horrible. Jay Sean should not react like that, people have to learn to ignore and move on. Jay is talented but he has to learn to accept what other people say and he has and he is on his way.
People need to realize that Jay Sean CO-Headlines concerts in Asia/The Middle East and India with Artists like Beyonce and Akon. In terms of world wide accomplishments he is NOT claiming to be on Usher's level, but he is certainly CLAIMING his respect due.
I hate when headlines make it seems worst than what it is. Where in the interview did he say "You Dont Know Me???" All he did was state facts with no intent to harm. I know Usher meant no harm either. If he did say it post it or stop trying to create something.
Shut the hell up all of you - does he question Usher's Skills ANYWHERE in this article....NO - or does he ask you not to count him out? mmmmm.....Calm Down Virgins
This guy isn't even a Trey Songs or a Mario. Forget about Chris Breezy or Usher.
Duh 1 milly vs 50 milly. This kid aint in Usher's league.
@Orville: Jay sold over a million with his first album in India ONLY. He has sold like nothing in his native UK and he's not famous there. In fact, he's not famous anywhere. He's only major hit with "Down" in North America and the album was a flop.
