Whitney Houston may not have performed well during a show in Brisbane, Australia this week, but, according to a promoter, it is not acceptable for the public and media to ridicule the superstar.
"As for some of the negative 'vocal minority' … all I can say is, what happened to the Australian positive support of someone who has seen difficult times, and is now up on stage, warts and all, presenting herself like an open book for the world to see," says Houston's promoter Andrew MacManus. "And they want to ridicule Whitney?"
As previously reported, sources attending the "I Look To You" singer's opener in Brisbane earlier this week have called the concert everything from "silly" to a "disaster".
Video of Houston performing and stopping midway through "I Will Always Love You" to apply make up (according to concertgoers) on stage also surfaced on YouTube.
Australia is just one stop on Houston's ongoing "Nothing But Love Tour," she is booked well into April with dates in Glasgow, Manchester and other destinations overseas. No plans have been announced for Houston to tour North America.

WH is trying to recover, you people is not GOD to say bad bad things to her. Every human will become old and weak. Those who don't understand WH...you shut up and sing your song!
I would pay $200 just to watch Whitney read the telephone book... She a legend. She doing the world tour for the fans, if you don't like her changed voice don't attend the concert. Whitney will always have an audience. She sold 2 million albums WW. Australia is very critical of American artists, just a few months ago they was bashing Britney spears. They are a very snobby society, and unjustifiably so.. Aren't they the poor over there? LOL
I disagree with the promoter when he states: "it is not acceptable for the public and media to ridicule the superstar." If the people are spending their $$$ on a 'superstar' and getting wheezy songs from a crack-ho then it IS fair to ridicule her. Though, I wouldn't wanna admit I paid $165 to hear a crack-ho sing. Especially when $20 bucks will get you a crack-ho to do more pleasurable things...
Note to the "Promoter Fighting Back"... The longer that you allow Ms. Houston to be surrounded by those who tell her what she wants/needs to hear... the longer she will continue to embarrass herself, and the talent and crew in whom you rely to cover for her inability to perform at a high level. We have heard excuses from Ms. Houston and her handlers for 15 years now about this setback and that time of hardship. These things always hover around addicts and those with life controlling problems. Stop taking money from well meaning fans and people expecting to see a once great singer who has wondered down the path that only leads to three places, Jail, Institutions and Death. Fight the disease she has... not those who are willing to say she is sick. And please stop taking money from the Australians who are wanting to see a good show, it makes the rest of America look bad.
You know, you gotta love Whitney. But let's face it - she can't sing like we are accustomed to. I don't think it's being unfair. It's being honest. Overcoming her struggles is certainly appluaded, but that does not speak for her skills.
