PETA Boss Responds To Kelis' Open Letter
Officials at PETA have responded to an open letter kelis’ wrote to the organization after they encouraged her to ditch her favored furs and be more link Pink and Mario.
Last week (Jan 14), Kelis wrote: “I found out that the founder Ingrid Newkirk is completely batty. I had a feeling but she far exceeded my expectations. I mean certifiably insane! Lol this chicks will is nuts, google it – it’s a riot! Beyond the fact that I think she's a diabetic, which means she needs insulin, which is taken from lab pigs (I know this because my sister happens to be in veterinary school), which would be completely hypocritical. It’s like don't abuse animals unless it can help me..."
Trying to sideswipe the controversy, a PETA boss released the following open letter:
"We've been inundated with phone calls and emails from folks alerting us to photos of you wearing a fur hat and coat while out in London over the weekend. Please know that animals killed for their fur endure immense suffering. Foxes, minks, coyotes, and rabbits - and even dogs and cats - are bludgeoned, strangled, genitally electrocuted, and even skinned alive for their pelts.
"If you enjoy the look of fur, renowned designers, including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Stella MCCartney, and Vivienne Westwood, couple fashion with compassion and use only faux fur in their lines. We hope you found this information helpful and will join countless celebrities, like Charlize Theron, Khloe Kardashian, Pink and Michelle Obama, in publicly swearing off fur."
