Making strides during the first week of a new year and decade, Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga moved up the Billboard 200 on the strength of solid albums. Keys, weeks after the release of her fifth studio album “The Element of Freedom,” remains strong in stores. Moving a reported 80,000 copies, the “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” featured album jumped one spot to reach no.3 on the chart. While unable to top Susan Boyle, whose hit album “I Dreamed A Dream” earns its sixth week atop the chart, Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster” nabs the title of being the week’s biggest sales gainer. “Monster,” featuring the no.1 single “Bad Romance” sold just over 82,000 copies to claim no.2 (up from no.6). In related news, “Stronger With Each Tear,” the latest effort to come from Mary J. Blige, dropped two spots to claim no.4 on the Billboard 200. According to Nielsen Soundscan it sold 62,000 copies.
