Whitney Houston, Latifah 'Extraordinary' For BET Honors

Whitney Houston and Queen Latifah are two of five leading luminaries set to be honored at BET's third annual BET Honors !
Set to be recognized for their accomplishments, Houston and Latifah join fellow honorees Sean 'Diddy' Combs, accomplished educator Ruth Simmons, and renowned neurosurgeon Keith Black.
"Celebrating the 30(th) anniversary of BET Networks this year, we are so proud to present the third annual BET Honors, a show celebrating the life works and accomplishments of inspiring African Americans," said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, BET Networks. "Each of our celebrants are dedicated to reaching back to help bring more forward and represent integrity, perseverance, fortitude and outsized talent. Music, merriment and memories are only a small part of BET Honors. We also hope to encourage our viewers to embody and emulate the passion and drive of these individuals."
Paying tribute to this year's honorees, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, India.Arie, Patti LaBelle, and ELEW are set to give riveting performances.
Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Ruth Simmons, and Keith Black join previous honorees Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Earvin 'Magic' Johnson.
With Gabrielle Union returning as the evening's host, the 3rd Annual BET Honors are set to air February 1 at 8pm on BET.

The pressure that Whitney lives under, every day, is surely too much for anyone to sustain. Lord give her strength. Not only is she in an ongoing battle with her own demons, something she freely admits, she also has the Intense scrutiny of her talent and health and beauty globally. Is there any other functioning artist, positioned so highly I. Their field with such pressure. I pray for Whitney but this is not a sustainable position. She needs rest, recoverry and real love. Great to hear! Whitney certainly deserves it - she's had an incredible year, with "I LOOK TO YOU" going platinum after a 7 year absence from the music industry. It's so nice to have her back, she was certainly "not built to break!" - We will always love you Whitney!!!
Whitney deserves these awards and much more. People need to realize Whitney is an icon and legend whose beauty and talent in music comes out effortlessly with emotion. I wish people more realize that today in our generation. I have been a fan for years and so privlege to have been a fan for all these years. Whitney, Congrats on the BET Awards and the NAACP Awards nomination. You deserve them and I hope your tour comes to the US this year.
I love Whitney. I've been listening to her new cd and her Preacher's wife sndgtrk and one wish christmas album was ministering to me all nov and dec- classics. God is able, all the time to do exceedingly, abundantly great things even when we thing he cant. I am so proud of her . J hud loves her and i'm sure that she will be singing for her.
I think we all need to take a look at Whitney & learn from it. We can all over come our obsticles.. YOU GO GIRL!!!!
