Teddy Riley Issues Statement: 'They Have Taken Me, Life For Granted'

After taking hits for allegedly beating one of his daughters with a guitar gaming device, Producer/singer Teddy Riley is admitting fault -- not related to the alleged attack but for mistakes made when raising his children.
"Perhaps, I should have been a stronger disciplinarian as they were
growing up. I worked very hard so that my children would want for
nothing," Riley says in a statement released Wednesday. "In hindsight,
I see that it was a mistake to give them everything they wanted so that
they could have the childhood I never had. Unfortunately, they have
taken me, and the privileged life I have given them, completely for
granted. Instead of being appreciative and realizing how fortunate they are,
my children have an inflated sense of entitlement and expectation
without having to work or earn their way. "
As previously reported, Riley's daughter, Taja, won a temporary restraining order this month. Claiming to have sustained injuries from an attack December 23, Taja told officials her father
"lifted a Rock Band guitar and threatened to kill person(s) with it".
While a post to his Twitter account, prior to its deletion, features Riley stating "I did it for a reason, and i would do it again for them to get it. don't disrespect the hand that feeds you," Riley says tells TMZ the allegations are false.
"Due to recent events, I am compelled to respond in detail to accusations made against me, by my daughters. I
love my Daughters, but I will not allow my children to disrespect me in
my home," says Riley. "Contrary to what I have been accused of, I would never beat my
children."
Claiming to be a great father, Riley now asks that everyone let this situation go.
"I'm asking everyone to let this one go... I'm only being a good
parent. I'm a great father and everyone who knows me, knows this is

Riley is reportedly due in court next month. He has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from his daughter.

TR man I really hate this happened to you and your family. I worked for you at Future Records when your kids was young and man you really tried to give them everything. Stay strong and this will pass, my brother.
Teddy you did the right thing dont let know one disrespect you in your own home.Let them go out there and see how cold this world is they'll be beggin to come back.Thats when you say I told you so and dish out some tough love.
Most of the comments hear lack wisdom and most of all understanding. Teddy as a father should of guided them properly, as giving them moral advice and conduct. Not in a cash register. He put his self in this predicament. He's the one that needs to be raised up. His abuse to his daughters Taja and Deja was certainly wrong on how he handled the situation. There is no justification for his action. May God grant favor to Taja and Deja and forgive them on the sins of their youth..
Teddy, let then go out in this world without daddy help! ( they will call you !) Daddy why didn't you tell us, it was this HARD. Truth me life itseld will teach them, not to disrespect your parents.
for starters < there are three side of the so called truth teddy story< ta s andja the truth teddy correct in saying that disciplinerian @ a early age , and i tend to lean more to his truth than his child ...but !! there is a way to handel it a violence is not the way teddy ya stillmy boy

I have raised 2 daughters ...33 and 24 ..talking sometimes was not enough.. but I got 1 degree and a want to finish (shoulda ..,woulda ..coulda reason why they have not done it)!!!!! Today my 17years old granddaughter walked out of her mother house after being told not to go by her mother!!!! I got the call not 911 ..because I would have broke her damn back!!! I say FATHER check your daughters because the man/police that is making them disrespectful to you will do them worst!!!
I believe there is more to this story than meets the eye. I get the feeling its been blownup. Sometimes our parents who were raised harsher than us - react without thinking. There is a fine line between discipline and abuse / Teddy misjudged and Taja exploited.
like he said dont disrespect the hand that feeds you. I'd whip their butt too if they disrespected me in MY house...o no. thats a big no no. I don't blame him.
