On September 26, Gospo Centric (Sony/BMG) will release The Book of David: Vol. I The Transition, the first gospel effort from Dave Hollister, former member of the multi platinum selling R&B group, Blackstreet.

This is not a traditional Gospel album. Producers Hollister, Mike City, Warryn "Baby Dub" Campbell, PAJAM, Shep Crawford, Clubhouse, Jessie Wright, Reginald Lewis and Daniel Weatherspoon, offer up a mix of cutting-edge Gospel/R&B with a smattering of old school jams and soulful vocals.

The Transition, takes a hard-hitting look at Hollister's walk of faith during his tumultuous life and rise to fame. The artist/producer has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry but he decided to leave it all behind and make a change in his life. In 2004 he dropped his management company, asked to be released from his recording contract with DreamWorks/Geffen/Interscope, got divorced and moved back to his home town of Chicago.

"While I was in the industry, God kept me from getting into a lot of things other guys I was around fell into," Hollister says. "People tried to put drugs on me, but I didn't take them. I've escaped death. I can't go back into that life."

This album is the result of Hollister's life-changing decision. It is not aimed just at Gospel fans but at Hollister's R&B fans as well. "I talk about things church people either hide from or act like they don't deal with,"

Hollister explains. The songs on the album include blunt honesty about his past as well as his present which is as much a purging for Hollister himself as he hopes it will be a primer for those going through the same challenges he has faced. "I don't know of any other way than to put my life out there because it's going to help people. God has really blessed me."

"I've never had as much fun making an album as I did The Book of David: Vol. I The Transition. Finally, I was free. And there's nothing like being at peace."
