After rumblings of a forthcoming performance hit the net last week, American Music Award organizers confirmed Janet Jackson for this year's celebration of music.
According to AMA organizers, Jackson will open the 37th annual show with a "special performance" Sunday, November 22.
Jackson joins previously announced acts including Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Green Day, Alicia Keys, and Jay Z.
In related news, Whitney Houston is also on board to perform during the broadcast.
"We’re honored to have Whitney Houston back on the AMA stage after ten years," said American Music Awards producer Larry Klein in a statement. "She has won the most AMA’s of any female artist in history and is without a doubt an international superstar so it’s only fitting we honor her with the International Artist Award this year at such an important time in her career."
Houston will also be crowned with a special AMA International Artist Award which has, in the past, been given to Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, and Rod Stewart.
The 37th Annual American Music Awards air November 22 at 8pm on ABC.
