After earning an Oscar for the portrayal of Effie White in Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson reportedly has her sights set on a significant biopic.
The 'Secret Life of Bees' actress may soon take on the role of Winnie Mandela, wife of historic South African leader Nelson Mandela.
Said to be in the running for a role as Winnie, alongside Derek Luke and Idris Elba (as Nelson), Hudson could very well end up taking on her biggest role to date within the next year.
While Mandela was a historic figure for sometime, as wife of Nelson Mandela, Showbiz 411 says "she lost her way, getting into legal trouble and becoming a pariah. She and Mandela have been divorced for some time".
No word on when the film would make its way to theaters.
For now Jennifer Hudson is focused on bringing joy to the holiday season.
As previously reported, the "If This Isn't Love" singer has signed on to film a holiday music
special titled 'Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home For Christmas" for ABC.
Set
to air later this year, the special will feature Hudson performing
'Holiday' classics at various personal landmarks in Chicago, IL.
Both Hudson's childhood church and music academy will be featured along with other personal points of interest.

I hope Ms. Hudson can bring forth that ruthless nature Winnie possesses. I just hate that she continued to use "Mandela" - so not worthy. She's a greedy, evil heiffer, who might knock Jenn off if the performance is not to her liking.
