Usher officially debuted his highly anticipated lead single "Papers" Monday.
Detailing his failed marriage to Tameka Foster Raymond, all before filing the actual divorce papers in June, Usher's new single has the net buzzing. While reviews have been mixed, some have questioned Usher's motive and maturity in detailing a relationship that was controversial from the start -- one that included the firing (retiring) and later rehiring of his mother, who has managed his career for well over 10 years.
While the song's lyrics including "I done damn near lost my mama, I done been through so much drama/ I done turned into the man I never thought I'd be/ I'm ready to sign them papers" likely sting his soon-to-be ex-wife, this could be just the beginning.
Speaking with PEOPLE earlier this year, Usher called his forthcoming album, originally titled "Monster," a bit different from his previous efforts. Telling the magazine it is "romantic at times," Usher also said the effort is "racy, risky, edgy and sometimes about personal experiences."
Usher's forthcoming album is due in stores this December.
