Omarion says both he and Lil Wayne are leaders -- part reason for his split from the "A Milli" rapper's Young Money/Cash Money imprint.
"My idea when we were getting together was that we were coming into more of a partnership. But I'm a leader, and he's a leader. When I thought about it and I really looked at the history of artists that do what I do, they're never under the umbrella of a crew," Omarion said Friday.
Contrary to reports indicating a rather quick signing with Young Money over the summer, Omarion says the deal came together over six-to-seven month period..
"When we were in the process of making the deal and the signing part, I wanna say it was roughly six to seven months, or maybe even a little longer," Omarion tells MTV.
"To most people I know it seems like, 'Well, that was fast.' [Laughs.] I totally get it."
As previously reported on Singersroom, Omarion has launched his own imprint through EMI Label Services titled Starworld Entertainment.
Omarion is due to release his third studio album, titled "Ollusion," November 24. The album is led by the Gucci Mane assisted single "I Get It In".
