Keri Hilson's runaway hit single "Knock You Down" was not intended for the "In A Perfect World" star.
According to singer/songwriter Kevin Cossom, Hilson's single was unexpected, just as much as Ne-Yo and Kanye West adding their sound to the song.
"It was really unexpected how it happened because
originally it was for someone else and ended up getting to Keri," Cossom tells Singersroom.
"Ne-Yo jumped on it, which was unexpected and then Kanye
(West) was a definite surprise so …. They both took that record to another level. To be honest, no one even
knew that was going to be the outcome."
At work on his forthcoming as-yet-untitled debut, Cossom, who is also credited on albums from Young Jeezy and Rick Ross, is also looking forward to the return of Grammy Award-winning diva, Whitney Houston.
"Whitney’s
huge man. She’s sold how many millions of records man," says Cossom.
"You know, she’s been
through the down period of her life where she was catching all the flack over
what was going on in her life. I think that people will love to see a good
comeback story. She was doing so much, it makes you interested to see if she
can really come back from that."
"At her prime
she had a personality that was kind of real and down to earth. You felt like
you could connect with Whitney. She felt like a homegirl but she was gorgeous. Besides
that though, how many people do you know that can sing better than Whitney ?"
While Cossom is excited about Houston's "I Look To You," the singer/songwriter hopes to make moves with his new single "Relax".
Teaming with Snoop Dogg, Cossom says "Relax" is the first cut from his debut.
