The Dream The-Dream could be moving from the studio to a Vice Presidential office at Island Records.

"I wanna Thank everyone at Island Records/DefJam for their faith in me and making me Executive Vice President of Island Records," The-Dream wrote on Twitter earlier today.

The-Dream will now oversee Island Records' development of talent, a role that was once held by Christopher Hicks.

Hicks, who followed late executive Shakir Stewart, had been appointed Executive Vice President in January.

Thinking ahead, The Dream wrote "I look forward to the challenge of rebuilding music for not only Island Rec. But for Universal Records as a whole. Today I'm humbled and blessed" on Twitter.

The-Dream's announcement today follows his public desire to call it quits, in terms of releasing albums, after the soon-to-be issued "Love King".

Talking about his retirement earlier this summer, The-Dream said "I am engaged and 'Love King' IS going to be my last album.... It is going to be last bcuz everybody is trying to "KILL THE DREAM!'"

  1. Sam, pt.2 says:

Continued.....When IDJ begins to make transitional attempts of molding The Dream into becoming the low down, cut-throat shady executive they want him to be, lets hope he will still be able to retain that Southern-upbringing because he's gonna need it! Better than that, lets be optimistic and hope that they let Dream ,be Dream and bring new talent and good music to the public!

  2. Sam says:

I hope it works! When producers or artists take an executive role, alot of time there "creativity and songwriting" suffers! Music executives have to be almost like their own non-licensced attorneys and spend more time creating complex artist-hindering contracts and signing off on varied half-ass put together promos, than they do "creating" the actual music! Hopefully, Dream will still be able to "produce and write hits"...AND be the executive IDJ wants him to be and still maintain his rationality as a man of common sense thinking! He will need to retain those qualities, especially when the day comes when IDJ decides to move on with out him and considering their recent track record of producers-turned-top executives, best of luck to the Dream!!!
