Maxwell's Billboard 200 chart-topping album "BlackSummers'night" is now RIAA certified.
Featuring the hit singles "Pretty Wings" and "Bad Habits," Maxwell earned RIAA Gold certification this month on the strength of several sold out tour dates and well received reviews.
Swiftly moving past 500,000 copies, Maxwell's first album in over six years, could reach Platinum-certified status in weeks.
In related news, Maxwell has expanded his summer tour and has even gone as far as setting up a fall tour that will make rounds through at least 10 cities in support of "Blacksummers'night".
Outstanding!! Congradulations to Maxwell. I went out and got my copy of the CD. Seen him in concert twice already. I wish I could see him again - his performance was incredible!!!! He worked the hall like no one else. Had us speaking in tongues!!
Heard his MTV Unplugged concert was being released on DVD - I can't wait for that. Even though it was filmed a while ago, it's still a great concert video and I'll buy anything where I can look at his fine self. Wish him much love and happiness.
This is what happens when a label properly promotes their artists; especially considering Columbia's track record, so props to them as well! His album is hanging tough on the charts with some big name heavy hitters like Daughtry! Pretty Wings is still receiving heavy airplay and hopefully "Bad Habits" is on its way to chart dominance as well! With Anita Baker, Sade and D'Angelo set to release new music by year's end, good R&B music is back!$$$$
