"Shine" singer Estelle is busy touring but, that did not stop her from addressing a fan who praised her over Rihanna.
"Estelle would have smashed the hook. Rihanna just doesn't do it for me," a fan tweeted Estelle earlier this week. Surprisingly Estelle re-tweeted or reissued the fans words on her twitter, prompting a story on MediaTakeOut.
According to the controversial blog, Estelle may just be calling Rihanna out in this month's issue of Womens Wear Daily.
In that issue, Estelle not only discusses her debut look but, also takes current trends, including the half-shaved hair look, to task.
"Everyone and their auntie is doing Fifties [dresses] and corseted dresses and doing half a head shaved," Estelle told the publication.
For the record, she recalls — half jokingly — rocking that hairstyle back in 2005, “when [Rihanna] was chilling in Barbados.”
Since the controversial story hit the net Tuesday, Estelle has not backed down and has gone on to blast MediaTakeOut while also reminding fans that God holds the key to her future, not the media.
"im going to always do and wear what i like. I'm human first! let folks do them," Estelle wrote on Twitter.
"me and them aint in the same lane. like i said i don't get forced to do a thing ;-) but sometimes I just want to wear a leotard!"
Disputing rumors that she was forced to change her look years ago, Estelle told one Twitter user "..the label didn't make me change my look dear. I came out w a shaved side."
As for MediaTakeOut, who informed Estelle that she should not "let (her) mouth write a check that (she) can’t cash!!!," Estelle says:
"PEOPLE N THIS INDUSTRY FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE THE KEY 2 A DOOR WHICH HAS YA DESTINY INSIDE!I LAUGH NO 1 BUT GOD HAS OUR KEY!"
In related news, Estelle is said to be at work on the follow up to the Mercury Prize nominated album "Shine".
Since its release, Estelle's "Shine" has been certified Gold. "Shine' is also accompanied by Estelle's massive hit "American Boy," which has been certified Platinum in the United States.

it seems to me that if you can stand on a stage and hold a mic then you have got it made. and the hair i agree with the poster women was rocking that look a long time ago. and i also agree that theres nothing new in this world . now if they could raise the dead than that weould be great. and as long as you can get paid for not being a great singer thats alright too, who cares as long as they are making paper, who cares.if you don't like jane or judy then click or turn their song off. you do not have to listen to nothing that you do not like. this is america.
Estelle IMO is a much stronger musical talent than Rihanna. Let's face it with the power of pro tools and the "pitch knob" nearly anyone can succeed as a "recording artist" particularly when musical talent is not the only factor that is considered. As for taking credit for shaved heads and fifties dresses get over it! That's not original. Women were rocking 50's dress in the fifties! Shave heads have been around way before 2005 (since that first chick decided enough with this hair). There is nothing new under the sun.
