Was Brandy Dropped By Epic: Human Comeback To Blame?
A once chart dominating R&B singer, Brandy is now rumored to have found herself without a label to call home.
According to BV Buzz, the "Long Distance" and "Baby" singer has officially been dropped form Epic Records in addition to losing management assistance from Roc Nation!
But is Brandy's drop really that surprising considering the seemingly forgotten comeback attempt with 2008's "Human" ?
Sources say Brandy is without a label home because of the album's lackluster performance since November. In fact, a source tells BV Buzz that they "didn't see the benefit in giving her another album."
Brandy signed a deal with Epic after solely recording under Atlantic Records in 2008.
"Human" was the former "Moesha" star's first new album in four years and first project since a tragic accident and subsequent civil suit.
"Human" spawned two singles, with the lead single "Right Here(Departed)" peaking at no. 34 on Billboard's Hot 100.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, Brandy's "Human" has sold just over 196,000 copies in the United States.

@ Rory You go you were right! You said it all to kk and then some! Hey check the post above this one, Our brandy wasn't dropped by Epic! Yes, thank the Lord! Now all Epic needs to do is promote the heck out of brandy's music for her new up coming cd this fall, 2009. Brandy fan forever!
kk: if she really wanted to "fit in with the times" she would have released a song like Disturbia or Patron Tequila - she didn't. She, Aaliyah & Monica DEFINED this genre - her current collaborative work with Darkchild is more evolved and synth inspired, but she's still Brandy - her vocals are still impeccable and soul still shines through on every track. As much as I love each and every one of her albums, you can't expect her to release the same music for 15 years. NOBODY is releasing songs like I Wanna Be Down anymore. You need to evolve with the artists you love, or you're going to be left behind, dwelling on what you used, rather than appreciating the beautiful music being produced by one of R&B's veteran women.
n i luvd her afrodisiac album
human was an attempt 2 try n fit in wid da times but i miss her sngs lyk sittin in ma bedroom n i wna b dwn
I agree with Rory. Human was one of the best albums from Brandy actually all Brandy's albums have been awesome! Epic is stupid for letting our Brandy go, but maybe this was a blessing because she wasn't getting the promotion she needed I barely heard B-rocka Brandy on the radio! Some record company will pick Brandy up or better yet Brandy can start making her own albums now. I refuse to believe this is the end for Brandy's music career, she is to talented musically, wonderful vocally and defiantly in her acting. I can't believe this if anybody should be dropped from a label it should be Ciara right now, Yes I like CICI but she isn't bringing her best anymore it seems nobody is checking for C's Cd some people in my area forgot she had a new cd and they are suppose to be fans. Brandy you will make it I just know it!! Much love and support always a Brandy fan, God Bless!
She doesn't need a record label. She should start her own and work with unknown producers and songwriters and release her own indie album. F*** those idiots at the labels!
dont worry about the epic execs who have no love or understanding of music and get their jobs from friends or friends or nepatism. Human was one of Brandy's best and in the right hands (labelwise) it would have been classic. Its quite possible an exec either dropped the ball, tried to save their own job cut, overspent on your promo budget, or stupidly tried to flex their muscles at epic. I know many of these people and see how they move. Brandy should see it as a blessing.
Human was a good album acapella is a nice creative track but it didnt get the promotion it deserved. im frm the UK & i didnt here s*** about it till dis year...yeah i know we behind but i dont watch Uk music so i normally get it when it comes out in the US. when Brandy finds a new label & shes blowin up epic gon b sorry like virgin was when they drop Mariah & look at her now back on top.
I agree with trillafood, Human was my favourite album of 2008 and of Brandy's -I've listened to it hundreds of times. It's not her fault that artist loyalty is going down the drain and that people would rather listen to Keri Hilson & Ciara - she's a veteran and regardless of how her album "performed" there is no denying that Human was an amazing album. 2008 saw a lot of great albums and some of the best releases performed poorly on the charts. Janelle Monae, Solange, Brandy, Deborah Cox...some of us would rather listen to A Capella (Something's Missing) or Shattered Heart than another generic, upbeat, meaningless autotune song. Brandy knows who her fans are and she did the right thing by delivering to them and not to the masses.
HUMAN WAS THE BEST R&B/POP ALBUM RELEASED LAST YEAR. FUCK EPIC BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T EVEN SUPPORT BRANDY 100%. THOSE BASTARDS SHIPPED OUT A LITTLE BIT OF HUMAN THE 1ST WEEK, NO PROMO, TAKING FOREVER TO RELEASE SINGLES. FUCK EPIC! AND I WISH THEM THE WORST OF LUCK!
