I was looking at MSNBC as I usually do and across the screen,it reads Michael Jackson not breathing cardiac arrest. My heart just dropped. Then about 3-mins later it was announced he was dead. Oh I creid. I grow up with the Jackson 5 music and with MJ music after he left the group. MJ, your presence will forever be in my heart. I missed the part when Janet came on stage, but for her to show up at the BET awards on behalf of her family during there their time of mourning had to take so much out of her specially being that her and Michael were so close. I would like to send my sympathy to the Jackson family. I came out listening to their music even though I had no choice because my family were all big fans. Michael Jackson will always live in my heart and will forever be missed.

Janet Jackson had grace and acted appropriately. Joe Jackson? - not so much.

It would've also been a great time to get Chris Brown as well in a more positive light; focusing on pure talent and raw skills, and not his personal drama(which is another separate , so we don't and won't go there bloggers!) I am glad that BET has mended the riff with Don Cornelius and during the Ojays tribute, I now see why non-energetic Trey Songz has not received the high sales numbers like his peers! Alicia's and Wyclef's speeches were great, while Mary Mary's wardrobe choices are highly questionable for a gospel act!BET has worked Neyo tirelessly for it showed and could've used other male vocalists in his place at different times throughout the show like Stevie, Smokey, Howard Hewitt, Peabo, etc...again old school crooners can help heal the pain! All of these artists are all seasoned at performing great vocally at many last minute calls and rushes! All in all, the show was OK, but their could've been more moving, reflective moments! I feel a separate tribute show is on its way!

Great remarks as always from Sylvia! I thought the show was OK for last minute changes! But the pre-show was the one that was horrible! If it hadn't been for Arsenio and BET's own Debra Lee, bringing some intellectual perspectives to the preshow, I would've come out better watching CNN's version of the preshow! I too, like Sylvia, noticed everyone from Keri, Beyonce, T-pain, Ne-yo and even Lil Wayne and Diddy seemed fatigued! BET knows that in real tributes you have to go old school, further than back than New Edition(they were great as always) to help ease the masses through the pain! Gladys, Patti, Chaka, Mavis Staples or Aretha's schedule's could'nt have ALL been busy at the same time for either one of them to have sang! These divas have lived through the deaths of Marvin, Otis, Sam C. Ex-Temptation members, Barry W., Gerald, etc..and have held strong for decades through various showbiz obstacles and could've brought some "warm-non funeral" like emotions to the show! Continued..

Continuation: I would have love it if Bet would have had a special Tribute to Michael Jackson show separate from the BET awards show. That makes sense and would have been better on everybody, the stars would have gotten more rest, everybody was dog tired you could tell, and most importantly the Tribute would have been done right. I repeat this was the WORST BET TRIBUTE/SHOW EVER!!! I was not only crying again last night because MJ was gone, but because the show was so dang boring and ok there were a very few good performances, Beyonce( Bee fan but something was missing in her skit) Maxwell, Drake, Monica and Keyshia, Keke palmers 2 min singing, awesome, and the preview of Martian and Jamie foxx's new movie which should have been doing a long time ago. BEt Awards didn't do it right even my aunt who doesn't watch awards show only watched it because of the suppose-it MJ Tribute and even she said it was awful.

I was so disappointed in BET, not only did they snub Chris brown to do a great tribute to MJ, the show was boring and it was not a real tribute to our beloved Michael Jackson. Jamie Foxx seemed tired and out of place and he wasn't his usual funny self. I can't believe BET said they changed the award show to honor MJ;They did?! It sure didn't seem like it and still can't figure out what they "Change". This was the worst Tribute ever and it shouldn't have happened on BET , BET ruined it for MJ fans and family. A REAL TRIBUTE would have been every last performer sing there favorite or some of MJ's popular songs or some how incorporate in their songs the right way. I wish their was a do over, yes they only had 3 days the Change everything, but it was rushed and should have been done right. I would have love it if BET had waited until next Sun. and do the Tribute Right!
