Janet Jackson arrived at Van Nuys airport early Friday morning and is reportedly grief-stricken over the shocking loss of her brother and fellow recording artist Michael Jackson.
Janet Jackson, believed to have been gearing up to reprise her role as Patricia in Tyler's Perry's forthcoming sequel 'Why Did I Get Married Too,' has not spoken publicly since arriving in the area. However, Jackson's manager issued a statement through Access Hollywood Friday afternoon.
In the brief statement, Kenneth Crear says: "Janet Jackson is grief-stricken and devastated at the sudden loss of her brother."
The former "Rhythm Nation" star's statement echoes that of longtime friend and icon Diana Ross.
Ross, who also worked with Michael Jackson in music and on the classic production 'The Wiz,' says she remains in shock.
"I can't stop crying. This is too sudden and shocking," says Ross. "I am unable to imagine this. My heart is hurting."
Michael Jackson was 50 at the time of his death. Los Angeles sources are reporting that an autopsy is being performed today. However, it may take 6-8 weeks to receive results.
Nearly a year ago, Jackson and his brothers, The Jackson 5, were honored at the BMI Urban Awards. R&B singers Lloyd, Mario and JoJo were among those who performed during the celebration that Janet Jackson also attended. Michael Jackson was not present at the ceremony.
In other news, BET Award organizers are also making plans to arrange some form of a tribute for Sunday's anticipated show at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditiorium.
As reported previously on Singersroom, executive producer Stephen Hill has received calls from entertainers asking what they might be able to do as a tribute to the King of Pop.

doneka... it might have been difficult for Janet to teach Michael about singing and dancing since he, along with his brothers, was already a worldwide superstar by the time Janet was BORN...
Michael Jackson was an amazing talent and a truly sad story... It is unfortunate that too often these things seem to go hand in hand...
