Not His Fault, Chris Brown Issues Statement On Smash

Chris BrownJust days before his preliminary hearing, R&B singer Chris Brown found three songs on the net including the seemingly inappropriate song "Smash". While the songs, including "Not My Fault," have been touted as new records, Chris Brown's team says they're all old and unofficial.

"There are several old demos circulating that are being falsely promoted as new material from Chris," a statement read from Jive Records.

"Countering misleading reports of 'new' Chris Brown music: there are no 'new' songs from Chris Brown currently being promoted by Chris or his record label."

While today's statement from the label clears up speculation that "Smash" and "Not My Fault" were buzz singles for Brown's next album, bloggers and fans have had days to review the songs.

As early as Saturday, "Smash" and "Not My Fault" began making rounds across the net, eventually falling into the hands of TMZ.

Taking on the song, TMZ just about summed up reaction to "Smash," writing: "Hypothetical question: If you were a singer accused of beating your girlfriend to a pulp and your preliminary hearing was set for Monday ... would your next release be a song called "Smash" ?????"

Popular blogger Necole Bitchie also chimed in, writing "Hmmmm, so who’s idea was it for Chris to release a song where he’s talking about “hit it hit it, Smash”.  Granted he’s talking about a girl wanting to have sex but the timing couldn’t be worse considering he’s on trial for doing just that."

Chris Brown is due to appear in court for sentencing August 5. A release date has not been set for his forthcoming album "Graffiti".

I love Chris Brown and we all know people do make mistake. It's not right to hit a female but, if she acts or is carrying herself like a male. She deserves to get her ass beat like one. I feel in my heart that Rihanna deserved to get her ass beat. Chris Brown should not be drop from his's record label just give him time and a little space. He is gonna make a good come back.

  6. Sylvia aka Sweet says:

Leave Chris Brown Alone! All CB's real fans in including me know those tracks are old and first of all both are unfinished. The first track "Smash" has nothing to do with beating anyone and of course "Not my Fault" is NOT about Rihanna or the event that took place back in Feb neither song is. Someone released both those old songs and sent them to the right media blogs to cause trouble for Cb right before his hearing. And all of them ran with hurting things about the songs towards Chris Brown. When Chris does release new music for his Graffiti album it won't be like nothing you have heard from him. BTW: Why is everyone now reporting to Evil TMZ for updates now like they have real new to report half their crap is made up. TMZ is not a reliable "Source" and should not even be searched for.
