Christina Aguilera just became one of the first artists signed to a new Clear Channel radio network.
Thanks to the recently inked deal Aguilera, known widely for singles like "Hurt" and "The Voice Within," will have her own show on Clear Channel's new A.P.E. network.
Short for Artist Personal Experience, APE, is a standalone company that will allow Aguilera to produce her own online radio show featuring commentary, music and interviews.
The network, also featuring Weezer and the Eagles, is expected to launch in July with assistance from local Clear Channel stations.
"We want artists to host the channels, tell stories and turn new fans on to new music," Evan Harrison, president of Clear Channel's digital division and CEO of a.p.e. radio told Billboard.
Aguilera's radio show comes just in time for her highly anticipated follow up to 2006s "Back To Basics". Expected to feature a new sound and much experimentation, Aguilera says "I'm experimenting with my voice in ways I've never done before, almost like a technical, computer-generated sound, which is different for me because I'm the type of vocalist that just belts"
The as-yet-untitled album is slated for release fall 2009.

i love listening to christina's new radio channel on iheartradio.com we have very similar tastes in music =)
I have always been a fan of Christina & have followed her throughout her career. This show is so awesome, I love her style and her music taste. Come on she rocked biggie and old school Madonna in the same 10 minutes. Lol. She rocks, so does this radio show and I’m adding it to my page. Thought Id share some pics I found of her on this site also, she is just so awesome. Way to go xtina!!!

(continued)We see far more entertainment news coverage of all of those divas, the good and the bad, as compared to her! She faces even more competition this Fall with Whitney, Mariah, JLO, and Toni returning to the airwaves! She is a power house vocalist whose management team and publicist needs to make sure she shines through the competition and not glimmer behind it!
If she was to use Auto-tune as Mary J.,has done, then she'll be fine! My concern is that she has been struggling in the diva shuffle! She brought down the house, 2 years in a row at the Grammys and still receives some low-key attention, but she has been facing heavy competition from Beyonce, Kelly C., Fergie, Miley, Taylor Swift, Pink, Carrie U., Leona, Rihanna, Britney and Lady Gaga; all of whom have won at least 1 or 2 awards of some sort during award season! She also opened last years AMA's, but her performance got over shadowed by all the others as the show rolled on! All of these divas received heavy videoplay on MTV and VH1 as well, even though she has filmed some of the best videos of any recent artist! Her public rivalry with Mariah Carey isn't helping her struggle either!
i'm not sure if i would consider this following the trend. i think it's more like showing what else she can do. she's here to stay so a chapter that is different than usual shouldn't be too bad. plus being an authentic aguilera fan, i'm sure it's going to be great.
If I wanted to hear a new "electro" Xtina album - I'd get Lady Gaga's album or Britney's....Xtina, your voice is your selling point...don't give that away...don't be stupid.
Oh, God bless don't let Christina go T-Pain on us! A technical, computer-generated sound is AUTOTUNE! Just tell me why in heaven's name would she want to alter her beautiful singing voice to sound like a fake chopped N' screwed computer? I for one don't want to hear that mess anymore, now grant it on a few songs for instance, Blame it-Jamie foxx and yes I have to admit a few T-pain songs, but that is it! Why fix something that isn't broken and why the H*ll is everyone doing the T-pain for has that autotune crap. I'm I missing something here?............Oh yeah GOOD MUSIC AND THE ABILITY TO HEAR WHAT THE SINGER REALLY SOUNDS LIKE!!!
