Kelly Rowland is moving forward with a new lease on life, thanks to the officially confirmed split with longtime manager Mathew Knowles. Before she completes the transition, Rowland has come forward to shed light on the exact reason why she split with Beyonce's father and MusicWorld executive.
"I just felt like I wasn't growing anymore," says the former "Like This" singer.
News of Rowland's parting of ways with Knowles was met with both questions and applause but one thing some ask is why now ?
Answering that very question, Rowland tells Chris Yandek of CYInterview, "It took a long time to actually come up with the final decision because it was something that you think about before when you feel like you're almost hitting a ceiling. I wanted a change. I needed a change. So that's what happened".
As previously reported on Singersroom, Rowland has hired Kelis and Michele Branch manager Jeff Rabhan and legal expert Gary Stiffelman who will both oversee her career, which might include a third studio album next year.
At this time though, Rowland is focused on television, specifically the BRAVO reality series "The Fashion Show".

She knew it should have happened long time ago when her first album didn't do so well. I think Kelly thought because she was and is the closest to Beyonce she thought B's farther would nuture her career the same way. Since that mess with the first two original members I would have gotten my own management team behind me.
i"m glad that she left because its all about beyonce. kelly good job you sang better than she do any way good luck on your next cd i can what
i think this new manager is a good idea...his roster includes kelis, and michelle branch which guarantees kelly is top billing now...u dotn wanna work with someone who's managing too many bigger names than urself
That's good for Kelly. She needs a manager who's gonna see her as his number one priority, instead of sloppy second, like poppa knowles.
If matthew gave as much effort to Kelly and Michelle with their solo careers he could of had a triple threat but his only true concern is Beyonce...he's becoming a 1 trick pony...yeah Beyonce is a great POP artist but damnnnnnnn....reminds me of another all female groups carerr ahhh yeah THE SUPREMES...with Diana Ross
i'm happy she made the transition it was the best thing for her to do for her career.i'm proud that she is being a lady about her reasons and not dissing her old management my fingers are crossed for this chick
I think this is a good thing. Somehow I don't feel he was working as hard for her as "someone else". She didn't get that much press from her album either.
I know this was a hard decision for Kelly since Matthew and his wife basically raised her. I hope everything goes well for Kelly and she can even get more tv/movie deals; however, I do not feel Kelis has the best manager, I mean her career isn't "THERE" yet either.
It's nice to hear from Kelly about how she feels. I also cain't wait for the next album.
Great for you Kelly. I knew you would come around soon. I'm continuing to support you and can't wait for the new album to come out.
