Rapper Turned Singer: Jeremih Talks Post Birthday Sex Sound, Hip Hop
Billboard chart-topping singer Jeremih admits that he, like T-Pain, is a rapper turned singer who has used auto tune. Contrary to popular belief though, Jeremih barely used autotune on "Birthday Sex".
"I used autotune slightly (but) that's actually the real texture of my voice," Jeremih tells Singersroom.
The single, now resting at no.2 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop songs tally, has been rushing up the charts since this spring. Ironically, "Birthday Sex" is not a single Jeremih picked nor does it represent the true sound of his forthcoming Def Jam debut.
"I feel like I have other songs that will attend to other crowds, or just will top other charts that I'm more confident in," he confirms when asked about the pressure to pull off a successful follow up to "Birthday Sex".
