Keri Hilson: Appreciate My Music, Not My Look

One thing Billboard chart-topping artist Keri Hilson has is confidence and a beautiful smile to match but, there is more to this "Knock You Down" diva. More than anything, Hilson wants people to look beyond the surface and recognize talent instead of saying "you're cute".
"It's much more of a compliment for someone to tell me they love my music or my voice or my personality or intellect than it is for them to tell me I'm cute," Hilson tells 944.
"..I think what people gravitate toward is confidence."
For Hilson, talent and confidence have been assets to a career that has included penning hits for Britney Spears to touring with Timbaland and Lil Wayne. At the end of the day however, Hilson admits that she's confident in her own skin and it works.
"I am completely confident in my own skin. In any industry, as a woman, you have to demand respect because it's not something you are given on a silver platter. I fought. It's survival of the fittest. I have been blessed with the mentality to not see a stop sign as a stop sign. No one is going to give you anything in life."
