Grammy and MOBO Award winning singer/hip hop act Estelle is ready to put "American Boy" in the vault -- permanently.
"I'm just recording this new album. I'm sick of singing "American Boy" so I should do something new," says Estelle.
While Estelle insists there is no love lost for American boys, including close supporters John Legend and Kanye West, the former "Shine" singer says the next album is shifting towards a fresh direction.
"It's going great, big songs, big hooks. More of the same, but some freshness. Big producers, same thing."
At this time a release date for Estelle's as-yet-untitled follow up to "Shine" has not been set. Swizz Beatz and Wyclef Jean have been linked to the project.

You know, I believe in supporting our R&B divas, but I am trying to figure out what Kanye and John Legend see in her! She can sing and rap, but it takes more than that in showbusiness! The production and writing is great, but I was trying to find that glimmer of a star that sets her apart from other neo-soul/R&B based artists/divas! Artists and labels always think that they have to go overseas to reclaim and find our soul music! Most of all, she really needs to work on her live performances if she's gonna hang with Jill Scott, Leela James and Erkah Badu on the touring circuit! Her red carpet wardrobe is not happening either, for facially she looks more charm school street chic rather than a beauty pagent ready diva! We all look for that spark that makes a star a star, and maybe we will find it on her next round of promos for this new CD!
