Christina Aguilera Gone 'Small Town' via Film Debut

Christina AguileraChristina Aguilera will be seen on Hollywood's big screen thanks to the forthcoming Screen Gems pic "Burlesque".

The film, Aguilera's first starring role in a flick, is based on a contemporary musical penned by Steven Antin, edited by "Erin Brokovich" scribe Susannah Grant reports Variety.

Aguilera, widely known for belting out songs like "Ain't No Other Man" and "Keeps Gettin' Better," will play an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club.

Since her self-titled debut, Aguilera has won four Grammy Awards, a Latin Grammy and has even lent her voice to the animated movie "Shark Tale".

Aguilera joins Beyonce (Obsessed) and Chris Brown (The Take), who have also signed on for Screen Gems projects in recent years.

"Burlesque" is expected will be shot later this year.
