While reports issued last week have called for the demise of LL Cool J's affordable line of clothing through Sears, a spokeswoman says the retailer still loves the current NCIS actor.
LL Cool J, aka Todd Smith, launched the line of apparel last fall stating: "It feels really good in this economic climate for me as not only an
artist, but as a businessman to be able to present something to America
that I know will make things a little easier for people."
Since its debut in stores, LL Cool J's line has been joined by several celebrity affiliated apparel and fragrance products including Andre Benjamin's "Benjamin Bixby" but, like other items for sale at retail, each line has been effected by troubling economic conditions.
Contrary to reports that his line is being pulled due to "poor sales," a Sears spokesperson told Wooha.com that it values its partnership with the former "Phenomenon" rapper/actor.
"Sears
values its partnership with LL Cool J and will continue its commitment
to providing the LL Cool J collection to its customers, both in-store
and online. The collection is characterized as affordable, iconic
apparel for the family and represents an important breakout brand in
Sears’ wide assortment of tees, denim and hoodies."
In related news, LL Cool J's will appear on NCIS' "Legend Conclusion" episode Tuesday, May 5.

LL Cool J is on my list of most underrated entertainers! For some reason, he is well known, but has not received the critical acclaim and sales numbers that his peers have! All you hip-hop heads that complain about what hip-hop is missing, LL delivers those beats and lyrics on his Cd's, but you would never know it! You would think that with him being a family man, being in better shape than most in their 20 's, 30's and 40's and having ladies of all ages, still scream his name, that he would could do no wrong! Could it be his management or Jay-Z's lack of respect as label head? With 25 plus years in hip-hop, very few, and I really mean few, MC's mention him as one of their influences! With the positives mentioned, it makes you wonder why LL Cool J doesn't have the massive acclaim and awards like Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and what 50 Cent use to have!
