R&B star Jennifer Hudson gets a welcome home gift as tons of fans came out to support her in her first concert in the Chicago since her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were murdered in last year.
The Oscar and Grammy-winning singer, Who is currently on tour with Robin Thicke, appeared in concert Saturday night at the Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago's McCormick Place, just eight miles from the home where she grew up.
During her performance, Hudson dedicated the song "You Pulled Me Through" to family members who were in the audience. She also welcomed four of her cousins to the stage to sing a pair of acapella spiritual songs that brought the audience to its feet, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The bodies of her mother and brother were found Oct. 24 at their home on Chicago's South Side. The body of nephew Julian King was found days later on the city's West Side.
