Legendary front-man of the Gap
Band Charlie Wilson continues to dominate the Urban Adult Contemporary chart
with his hit song “There Goes My Baby.” The Single, off Wilson’s sophomore Jive Records release, Uncle
Charlie, currently ranks No. 1 for the seventh week in a row. Wilson
breaks his previous record of six consecutive weeks at No. 1, that was held by
his smash single “Charlie, Last Name Wilson,” from his
gold-certified Jive debut album of the same name.
“There Goes My Baby,”
written by multiple Grammy winner Babyface and Calvin Richardson,
describes a man who falls in love with a woman at first sight. Wilson said he knew it
was a “winner” when her first heard it. The
next single will be “Can’t Live Without You,” produced by
the Underdogs.
The album title, Uncle
Charlie refers to Wilson’s
status as the “de facto father of new jack swing” and his influence over some
of today’s top musicians and singers. Wilson
is considered one of the greatest and most distinctive voices in R&B.
Classic hit singles such as “Outstanding” and “You Dropped
a Bomb on Me” are among the most sampled tunes by contemporary Rap and
R&B artists.
Uncle Charlie also features collaborations
with Snoop Dogg and T-Pain.

This is testiment to the fact that when you come from the old school you learn your crasft and it shows because there is no vocalist out there of the newbies that will have the career Charlie Wilson has had and continues to have..
Shout out to GOODZZ below! Thanks! I am a thinker and long-time music lover of all genres who trys to "inspire" deserving young folks to really see things for what they are! Showbusiness can be cut-throat, bias, prejudice and extremely shady behind its glamorous facade! In contrast, it has true rewarding moments as displayed on "MTV's Cribs", various network award shows, docu-dramas and "Forbes' Entertainment Lists"! Entertainers are the ones who help keep "some" of our minds at bay, whether its on screen or through a song! We rely holy and solely on God, but through their God-given earthly talents; singing, writing, speaking, dancing, acting; we can make it through life just a little-less stress free! Although the devil has his hand heavy in the amusement, it is up to us to sort out the good in this entertainment and use it to make our journey through life a meaningful one! We are all hardworking folks and why not let their artistry serve as your personal soundtrack! Peace!

wow. that's great.
While you R&B dudes are so busy trying to dethrone Usher, you need to be looking at how to stay in the business long-term like Charlie!! He can still put on one helluva concert as well and he doesn't sound out of breath like alot of you all do; and he's old enough to be yall's granddaddy! His songs with the Gap Band still receive heavy playback at African-American family reunions, radio, happy hours, 1st Fridays at the club, and have become part of our culture for remembering the good'ole days! Go Uncle Charlie!
