Solange Knowles Out At Geffen, Was Kelly Rowland The Sacrificial Lamb ?

After intense promotion of her Geffen debut "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams," Solange Knowles has reportedly lost her deal with Geffen for a second album !
Seen at seemingly every event under-the-sun since August, including both Fashion Rocks and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, Solange Knowles has been busy doing all she can to promote what ended up being her biggest album in terms of attention from mainstream media.
Unfortunately for the Lil Wayne dubbed "Solo," Geffen Records says it is no longer interested in working with her business-wise due to abysmal sales of her debut which has sold nearly 139,000 copies since its release last August !
While news of Solange's fate at Geffen is concerning, the way in which her management allegedly tried prevent the split from becoming major news is astonishing.
According to BV Buzz, Destiny's Child songbird Kelly Rowland was seemingly thrown up as the sacrificial lamb last week when news broke that she had parted ways with Columbia as a solo artist in order to skirt by Solange's exit from Geffen.
Contrary to early reports, Kelly Rowland and Columbia executive Robert Stringer amicably split due to Rowland's decision to move forward with her solo career apart from longtime manager Matthew Knowles (Beyonce and Solange's father/manager).
"The decision for Kelly to seek other opportunities for her solo career was agreed upon mutually, and any reports to the contrary are false," Stringer pointed out in a release last week.
According to a record label source, "Geffen did a one-off deal with Music World Entertainment for Solange and wasn't interested in doing a new contract with her.... In the end, the CD didn't sell despite Solange's countless high profile appearances".

Sol-Angel was an amazing album, I don't know why sales were so poor. And though I agree her vocals aren't the strongest on the album, her live performances demonstrate her talent. Go watch her AOL performance of T.O.N.Y.
Solange really is not a good singer. She needs to just hang it up cuz she is going nowhere with her career. She is just trying to be like Beyonce but B. has talent and she doesnt. She is just Beyonce's lil sister and she should just leave it at that.
I agree somewhat with Carmene, but their are already "chicks" out right now that can sing(Jhud, Alicia, Christina A.) and out dance Beyonce(Ciara, Janet)! The difference is that their record labels aren't willing to spend the kind of money that Sony does to promote Beyonce's projects...plus when your dad is your manager he is going to give more blood, sweat and tears than some "manager" their label recommended for them! I like Beyonce, but she is not that great of an actress, but Mathew puts in the time and effort to make sure B. gets the roles! Rumors persist that at times the Knowles camp can be very shady, but they say that about every manger, promoter, label executive, distributor, retailer, etc....! Although he failed with Kelly, he's got to be doing something right, or wrong according to Aretha and Etta, for Beyonce to keep getting all these opportunites for film roles and million-dollar promotional advertising for her solo CD's!

I think that it has nothing to do with who they are as much as what they're doing. They only put so much into Kelly Rowland because of her fan following with Destiny's Child, and they TRIED to sell Solange, but it just didn't work. The numbers have something to do with it, NOT MATTHEW, and DEFINANTLY NOT BEYONCE! BEYONCE is given the same oppurtunity to shine as Kelly and Solange, but the talent and hunger aren't there as much as it is in Beyonce. I mean..if you were going to spend your precious time, money, and name on one of the three acts (beyonce, kelly, solange) and you wanted to make a profit, who would you spend it on? Let's just start being honest with ourselves. i saw this coming she had this "i'm the s*** already attitude" and came off very not likeable like we were supoose to just love her and her music when really we all knew that you wouldn't have any kind of career if it wasn't for your sister being beyonce which was weird to me when you would think she would be more humble
