T-Pain and Company Sued For Libel, Defamation and Damages

T-Pain It seems concert promoters don’t care if T-Pain received death and kidnapping threats for a gig he was booked to do in Guyana. The promoters plan to sue the ‘Auto-Tune’ star for a reported $5 million.

As previous reported on Singersroom, T-Pain cancelled the show after receiving threats from an unidentified attacker, who was threatening him in emails and telephone calls.

Now T-Pain and his promotions company Chase Entertainment have been slapped with a breach of contract lawsuit by executives at Hits and James Entertainment.

The company claim T-Pain's last-minute cancellation caused chaos for them, insisting reports of the death threats were never substantiated. They also allege the star made excessive demands for his tour rider, which included plane tickets for an entourage of 12, a four star hotel, a private jet, and FBI protection.

T-Pain was reportedly given a $75,000 advance, which Chase Entertainment officials have offered to return to Hits and James.

"We feel horrible about not being able to play the concert,” Chase Entertainment's David Abram says. “We are going to do what needs to be done to make this right with the promoters. They're a good company. We're a good company.''

But Hits and James Entertainment bosses have pressed ahead with legal action, filing their lawsuit in Broward Circuit Court in Florida on Monday (Mar. 23).

They are also suing for libel, defamation and are seeking damages and legal costs.
