Kandi Burruss Singer/songwriter and now 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Kandi Burruss has come forward to defend her fiance after hearing rumors that implied he was a deadbeat dad and drug dealer !

Burruss, known widely as an ASCAP award winning songwriter and former member of R&B group Xscape, says "He’s not a deadbeat dad. His kids come over to our house and hang out all the time."

Burruss, who according to Sister2Sister Magazine, beat out Angie Stone and New Edition singer Ralph Tresvant's ex-wife for a spot on the second season of "Real Housewives of Atlanta," became the subject of several well circulated emails at popular blogs such as SandraRose and TheYBF (The Young, Black and Fabulous) after it was revealed that she would replace Deshawn Snow.

Sources claiming to be close to acquaintances of A.J. Jewell, Kandi's fiance, went as far as calling the alleged Atlanta based father of six, who has some type of "involvement in the music business," a deadbeat dad and a drug dealer who uses "fake pay stubs" to avoid paying child support.

According to Kandi everything has been on the "up and up" since they've been together and she doesn't "know whatever went on in his past". In fact, Kandi says his baby mothers are respectful and "they never seem to have a problem".

In other news, Kandi Burruss may be considering a return to the stage as a solo artist.

When speaking with Singersroom late last year, Kandi mentioned plans to record a new solo album for release sometime this year: "It’s funny because for a while I was like “oh I’m not going to sing I’m just going to keep writing” and the truth is I really miss being on stage."

"I’m definitely going to put something out, hopefully sometime next year."

Kandi will not be the first "housewife" with a mic, controversial 'housewife' Kim rocked the mic on the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" last fall.

Hey Kandi, I am a 23 yr old single parent. And let me just say I think you are a strong black woman. Although you have some haters on here hating on you, don't let them get to you. Like you said in your song "I fly above all the haters, it's beneath me." But anyways I have been a fan of yours since you was with the group Exscape. I have been searching the web to find some kind of way to get in contact with you, I also write song and sing my own songs, I think its time for me to part with my songs and get them out into the world to hear. I'm interested in selling my songs, but before I do I would love to get some feed back from one of the world greatest songwriter. So if you could please contact me at C5Lea@aol.com. Thank you and stay sweet.
