While the extent of damage to Chris Brown’s career is debatable, there is one reliable source that proves the singer’s music is falling victim to his impending felony assault and making criminal threats case — the Billboard charts ! In a report issued Wednesday, Brown’s music has not only dropped out of the top 20, it has completely disappeared from the Hot 100 recurrent airplay chart. Even though Chris Brown had no new music out at the time of his arrest Feb. 8, the singer’s summer 2008 released single “Forever” was still in the top 20. That all changed when Brown and Rihanna were involved in an alleged altercation just before the Grammy Awards, often dubbed as “music’s biggest night”. According to Billboard, “Forever” was hovering at No.14 and quickly dropped to No.58 after the “Exclusive” star was arrested. Today “Forever” is no longer in the Hot 100, nor is Brown’s single “Superhuman” featuring Keri Hilson. While it is hard to confirm the exact amount of plays Brown’s music is getting at radio, sources believe Brown’s audience has dropped from over 15 million to less than 9 million listeners. Since his self titled debut in 2005, Chris Brown has enjoyed consistent success on the charts. In fact, three of Brown’s singles have held on to top 5 positions for multiple weeks, including the Platinum certified “With You”. Rihanna, however, is still holding on at Billboard. According to the March 14 issue of the Hot 100 airplay chart, Rihanna’s “Disturbia” remains in the top 50. A T-Pain single featuring Chris Brown titled “Freeze” is however, charting.
