Aretha Franklin's now infamous hat, worn at President Barack Obama's inauguration, has become historic -- at least to the Smithsonian !
According to published reports, Franklin's Luke-Song designed hat is to join Michele Obama's Jason Wu designed inaugural gown when the Smithsonian (a historic museum) finalizes its inaugural display.
There's just one problem though -- Aretha says she's not quite ready to give up the prized hat !
According to PEOPLE, Aretha Franklin says "I am considering it. It would be hard to part with my chapeau since it was such a crowning moment in history."
"I would like to smile everytime I look back at it and remember what a great moment it was in American and African-American history. Ten cheers for President Obama."
As previously reported on Singersroom, Aretha Franklin's hat has inspired a replica that has been flying like hotcakes and sending a few dollars ($170 - $190.00 per hat) towards Detroit based chapeau designer and shop owner Luke Song. Song, who custom designed the Queen's hat, has even received orders from overseas locales including the UK.
Do you think Aretha should part with the hat ?

"Aretha Franklin you did it this time, you look good in you fashionable hat of yours", we all love you "Aretha Franklin".
Another "positive" step for Aretha! After years of red carpet fiascos, who would have ever thought that the "Bjork of Soul" would have a good moment of fashion that would make visual history! Although she has never been a "Diana Ross" fashionista, this too is great and its goes along well; paired with her historic performance!
