Ne-YoNow that Ne-Yo has a firm grip on music he's content with spending the rest of 2009 putting his recently learned and modified acting chops to good use.

"I wanted to spend the money to get the right acting coach so I'm not just the R&B guy trying to act, but an actual actor."

Confirming that his work with the coach has paid off, Ne-Yo told ArtistDirect that he would be seen in sort of an unexpected role later this year.

That role is in the anticipated Tuskegee Airmen based flick, 'Red Tails'.

Starring as Smokey, a guy has a deep southern accent and chews tobacco, Ne-Yo says "It's a period piece about the Tuskegee Airmen -- the first African American fighter pilots."

'Red Tails,' currently in production, follows Ne-Yo's role in the hit film 'Stomp The Yard'(2007).
