Kelly RowlandKelly Rowland made what some thought was necessary, a clear break from Beyonce's father and manager Mathew Knowles this week.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Rowland says "Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance — both as a member of Destiny’s Child and with my solo projects. Although we have decided to part ways professionally, the Knowles family and the entire Music World Entertainment team will always be my family."

Rowland, who shared her post-Destiny's Child goals with Singersroom last year says "I want to make as many solo albums as I can. I feel that (people) harp more on Kelly from Destiny's Child instead of getting to know me for who I am."

Mathew Knowles, who called the split amicable (dismissing rumors that there had been a verbal altercation), issued a statement as well:

"After a very positive meeting between Kelly Rowland and myself, we have amicably agreed to end our professional relationship. My company, Music World, will continue to manage Destiny’s Child as a group. As an artist Kelly has incredible talent and I only wish her the best. We will always be family first and foremost, and as a dad I only have love for Kelly."

Kelly is so played and tired its sick! I say this because this move is like 10 years LATE now no one will really be checking for her seeing how long she has stood in b's shadow now a lot of ppl don't pay kels much attention they don't realize her true talent and I don't think she does either she's too afraid and use to being a backup singer she may release a hit or two that does well on the charts but I doubt she will promote herself or be promoted sufficiently like beyonce beyonce is driven kelly is so used to playing 2nd string and ppl go off of looks more than anything which is sad I just hope she stays as far away from red hair as humanly possible. Step ur game up kels its time! U did all that kissing up to the knowles, co signing, biting ur tongue and being completely overlooked for nothing it hasn't gotten u anywhere bet u won't do that again

Well babygirl maybe would could get to know you if you'd tell us something about yourself and stop praising Beyonce. I've never EVER hear Bey mention or praise Kel, but Kel worships Bey like she's the queen. I'm glad Kelly has gone on because I think she's been programmed and brainwashed for years.

  3. Rayne says:

You go girl! I will continue to support you no matter what.

  4. Evan says:

Kelly looking forward to seeing you really shine. It's Your Turn. Sunshine Anderson had a wonderful cd that but under (MK) lot didn't hear it. Hopefully, Michelle will move on to so the world will see her skills to. Wishing U the BEST Kelly>

  5. Big Poppa NC says:

Good job Kelly. What I would suggest is getting with some hot song writers like Hammadi B or Anthony Hamilton. Those cats would have you at least 2-3 top 10 hits. In todays market, thats saying a lot.

  6. cheral says:

The thing is dat even in destiny’s child Kelly and Michelle were side tracked. When dey released their solo albums, beyonce got all the promotion and publicity, her face was every where whilst Kelly had to do all the work her self and travel from country to country trying to get people to support her. Kelly is a beautiful person with great talents; maybe its time she spread her wings to find her own success.

  7. Doesnt Matter says:

Well, I really want to see this one. So many people always complain that Kelly was never managed properly and she as well. Now lets see what her career will be like now, with no Matthew or Beyonce to blame. I fpeople like Kelly so much and feel so sorry for her, they should have bought her albums. But they did not. Lets face it, Kelly will always be at Ashanti's level.

  8. lisa says:

    how great for her.

  9. E. Irizarry (R&B singer) says:

Kelly Rowland's 2002 Simply Deep CD was so good that it is the best Destiny Child's solo album ever. Even better than Letoya Luckett's album (but Letoya's album was almost as damn good as Kelly's Simply Deep album). Because of Matthew "Don King" Knowles, Kelly never blew up. Now Kelly can shine. Do what it do!!

  10. Nika says:

I am so happy. This is what I have been saying for years. Matthew was not giving Kelly the attention she needs. Her last album was hot and barely got any play.
